ABSTRACT

 

 "Dreaming: The Relationship to Self"

Dawn Matheny is finishing a PhD in East West Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. She has long been a student of dreams, done dream groups and a variety of presentations on dreaming. For 17 years, she has had a career managing volunteer and intern programs and other duties through a human resource department in county government. Prior to that she ran a domestic violence program.

4. Summary of Presentation:
Presentation will explore qualitative research which looks at people's relationship to their dream life, what dreaming means to them, the benefits and challenges of their dream life, their beliefs about what dreaming is, and the implications for dream education, people working with their own dreams, dream workers, and therapists.

5. Learning Objectives:
Participants will be exposed to material and learn:
A. The value of viewing dreaming from a relational frame;
B. To see and respect the multiplicity of how people see and treat their dreams;
C. To think about benefits and challenges that people deal with in their dream life.
