18th Annual International Conference of the Association for the Study of Dreams

Tour of the Campus

Here is a view of College 8 as you drive in from the west entrance.

Parking:  Registrants with cars who are staying on campus will receive parking passes upon arrival. Commuters (those not staying on campus) can purchase parking passes at UCSC's rate of $5/day or $15/week. Cars without permits WILL be ticketed by University Police! Permits not necessary on weekends or after 5:00pm
On-campus shuttle busses provided every 10-20 mins.

Walking into the college from the parking lot

Clothing:   Bring sturdy, comfortable shoes; the campus is hilly and you will be walking. (If you might need transportation assistance during the conference, please contact vktonay@cats.ucsc.edu or leave us a message at the conference's toll-free line, 1(866)DREAM12   1(866)373-2612.) Few people wear suits in Santa Cruz.
You've turned straight again and walked down the second flight. The rust-colored building is the Student Center, and beyond, some of the apartments in which we will be living. You pause.

Weather: "It never rains in California..." It rarely rains here in July! Expect early morning fog and temperatures in the 60s, followed by late morning clearing and highs in the 70s and low 80s during the afternoon, dipping into the 60s and high 50s during the night (low humidity). The ocean is on the cool side, but some dreamers do swim in it!
Check the Santa Cruz Weather Site for the latest forecast

'Spa facilities': The UCSC sports complex is state-of-the-art, relatively new, and includes a weight room, dance room, locker room, jacuzzi, olympic-sized pool, and a track with a wonderful view (bring those jogging shoes...). Permits to use the facilities are very reasonable and can be  purchased at registration.

Jogging track overlooking the Pacific is free of charge. On-campus shuttle busses provided every 10-20 mins.

IMAGINE walking down a curving path through the redwoods, emerging into a meadow just in time to catch the sunset flaming across the Pacific. As you pause to watch the sky darken and the stars emerge, you hear only bird calls and the sound of the breeze through the tall grasses. The presentations you heard today were fascinating, and you reflect on each of them, smiling as you make connections between what you've heard, your own dreams, and the dreams of those you know. Breathing in the clean scent of sea and woods, you make your way back to rejoin the community of dreamers, friends old and new, just now settling down for dinner and lively conversation.

You turn around and see
 from whence you've come
