Four PalTalk On-line Events with be occurring at the Santa Cruz conference. Remotely participating in the first event is not possible unless you are affiliated with cyberdreamwork.com. The other three events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday are open to the public.
Basically, you will be using a freely downloadable program called PalTalk that will allow you to enter a virtual auditorium where people from around the world will be able to gather. In this auditorium it is possible to hear scheduled transmissions from the conference as well as to ask questions of the presenters.
PalTalk is an Internet-based voice communication service that is analogous to your home telephone. Using a PC (with speakers and a microphone or headset) and only a 28k dial-up connection, Paltalk allows you to enter a large group room to listen to and speak with others anywhere in the world.
DIRECTIONS FOR LOGGING ONTO PALTALK:
If you have not done so already go to PalTalk.com and download and install the PalTalk program. This easy to install program is for PC's only.
About ten minutes before the PalTalk on-line events (see schedule) , log on to the Internet via your ISP (for ex.; earthlink.net) and connect to Paltalk.
Click the "Groups" button located in the upper right hand corner of the Paltalk program.
In the list of "All Categories", click on the name "Health Related."
Double click on ASD Dream Conference to enter the virtual auditorium where the on-line events will be occuring. Then, click on the "Join" button in the lower left corner and your name will appear on the Participant list of the ASD Dream Conference Group Room.
You can now relax and take part in the presentation.
To participate in discussions, you can always type into the rectangular area under the large "Text" window of this Group Room and press "Enter" on your computer keyboard. You can also ask for a "Mic" by clicking on "Req Talk" under the participant list. You will then be handed a microphone by one of the group moderators.
