I know there have been a couple of other threads on this but one is 3 years old and another isn't obvious from the topic what it's about, so I thought I'd start a new one.

Last night I had my first dream ever in which I actually died. I might post the whole dream later but for now just the actual death part.

The setting was like a gladiator arena and after a prolonged fight I got hit on the head and died.

After I died there was a sort of scoreboard thing with numbers of people on it and as we all died the number decreased until there were none left.

The complete dream was a LOT more involved than that but as you can see I am alive and posting smile

How did you know you died other than the number of people counting down to zero? Also, how did you see the sign if you were dead, was it an dream O.B.E.?

I look forward to reading the whole dream if you post it. cool

Good questions Lee smile

When I died I was aware that I'd been hit on the head despite a lot of people around me trying to protect me. Someone had thrown one of those heavy spikey balls on a chain thing, that's what hit me. And I just knew when it happened that that was me done for, not a thought just an awareness. And the whole scene just sorta stopped like I wasn't involved any more. So I suppose it could've been like an OBE thing when I saw the scoreboard although nothing happened like me seeing my own body or anything. But as you know dreams aren't totally logical if at all *lol* so it didn't strike me as strange in any way. The scoreboard going to zero confirmed that I had died not just passed out. Although thinking about it now I suppose it looks possible that it was just counting who was left to fight, but in the dream I KNOW it was who died.

I have some other things to get on with right now but I will attempt to post more later smile

I died twice in my dreams. Both times, I knew I was dead. In ascending from a mountain and hit a rock, I felt strong, but he broke away and I fell to my death. Felt every break bones and knew I was gone.

Quote:
I died twice in my dreams.

Reminded me of a conversation I had with folks from my extended family many years ago, after returning from a long trip out of the country. During the conversations, among other things, I described a difficult struggle I had to endure during my journey, during which I had woken up twice thinking that I had been dead.

It was not exactly a dream, but a feeling upon coming out of sleep.

Everybody listened. An older relative said, “We all die many times. However, we have a funeral only once”.

This happened many years ago. I am still very grateful for that advice.

Does it refer to a feeling in the dream?

Regarding the meaning of the dream: This morning I checked out two different dream dictionaries that I have for dreams of death and funerals. Both have good but very different suggestions.

Many writers about dream meanings and symbolism express typically negative opinions about dream dictionaries. However, they have a use. They provide a basis, out of the collective human experience of dreaming, from which a dreamer or dream interpreter can choose and develop a meaning that applies in a specific case.
