I know it is said that we dream alot, however, I never really remember much about my dreams. If I do the dreams seem to be silly and frivolous.

My father's been deceased since 1987 and we never had a much of a relationship since I was 4y and now I'm 57y. I have a couple pics of him but personally I do not remember his face. One photo of him is when he was 29 and one about 60.

Three years ago I woke up one morning to a total memory of a visitation from my father. I never considered it as a dream. I had never experienced anything like this. There was very little said. And he didn't look like either of the pictures I have. Long story short, I really really needed this validation. He had a lady with him, my one question to him was "is this your wife or girlfriend?" All he said was no.

It was a tascit situation. I felt love and I was never so excited in all of my life.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Thanks

Hi myfathersdaughter, welcome to the IASD Discussion Boards.

Visiting with long lost relatives in dreams does happen from time to time. I have never experienced this personally (that I can recall that is), but people have stopped by the board and discussed this topic throughout the years. Use our Search feature above to look them up, I'm sure you'll find some interesting stuff there.

I'm glad that the dream was able to touch you in such a positive way. If you want to try to stir more dreams of this type, you could try incubating them by falling asleep telling yourself you're going to dream about your father. You can find your own way of doing this, some people repeat over and over that they will have the dream type they are hoping to have. This is another topic you can search for using the search feature above if you want more information on it.

Thanks for the dream account.

While I dont believe there is ever likely to be any true validation for such experiences beyond what we take from it ourselves personally, I do believe that dreams can be a conduit to communications outside of our normal sphere of physical experience.
In my dreams I have communicated with other people (living) and things they said to me in dream (which I had no way of knowing before) had been validated by them at subsequent meetings.
I have had encounters in dreams by people with such strong energies, that left me carrying a bit of that vibe upon waking, which I personally would attribute to some kind of communion of consciousness outside my own psychology.
Plus I have also felt energies and presences in the waking world that lead me to believe that there can be (and probably is) something of ourselves left after we pass on, in some sort of energetic state, which can at times focus more directly into our realm of awareness...and dreaming is just one avenue to that awareness.

So for me personally, I do believe it is possible you had an encounter with your father. But in reality, the only validation you can get on this would be what you take away from the experience yourself.
