About Barbara D'Amato, Psya.D, LP

I am a certified/licensed psychoanalyst practicing in Brooklyn and NYC since 1989. I have always been interested in dreams and recently completed a doctoral research thesis entitled: A Study of Dream Threats in the Dreams of Adult Adopted Women as Manifestations of Psychic Loss, which examined several hundred dreams collected online. I am also on the faculty at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies in NYC where I teach and supervise clinical candidates. A psychoanalytic understanding of dream material is quite relevant in our training program.

My notes on the IASD

I joined IASD many years ago when I began my doctoral thesis. Through IASD I have been introduced to various and current dream research studies, conferences and publications. IASD has been a source of networking with other researchers. I have found it to be an invaluable resource for the latest thinking about dreaming, particularly the IASD journal, DREAMING.
