About Bernard Welt, Ph.D.

Professor, Academic Studies, Corcoran College of Art and Design, Washington DC; PhD, Literary Studies. Bernard Welt has taught an interdisciplinary course on dreaming for over 20 years at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington DC , and recently developed a new course on dreams and cinema, covering film fantasy, surrealism, the interpretation of dreams as represented in film, the relation of the horror genre to nightmares, and metaphysical paradoxes of dream and film. He is an active writer of poetry, fiction, plays, and essays on film, art and fantasy.
He has presented on dream education and on dreams and cinema at IASD Conferences since 2001, most recently speaking on Walt Whitman's poem The Sleepers in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the publication of Leaves of Grass. He is moderator of the IASD e-study groups on Education and on Dreams, Creativity and the Arts and joined the board of the International Association for the Study of Dreams in 2005.
