About Robert Moss

Robert Moss is a lifelong dream explorer, a bestselling novelist, journalist and historian. His fascination with the dreamworlds springs from his early childhood in Australia, where he survived a series of near-death experiences and first encountered the ways of a Dreaming people through his friendship with Aborigines. For many years he has taught and practiced Active Dreaming, an original synthesis of dreamwork and shamanic techniques.

His many publications include Conscious Dreaming , Dreamgates, Dreamways of the Iroquois, The Dreamer's Book of the Dead, The Three "Only" Things: Tapping the Power of Dreams, Coincidence and Imagination ,and The Secret History of Dreaming - to be published by New World Library in January 2009. His novels include The Firekeeper and The Interpreter. He has also recorded the popular Sounds True audio series Dream Gates: A Journey Into Active Dreaming and the educational DVD series The Way of the Dreamer.

Robert Moss leads workshops and classes in Active Dreaming – his original synthesis of modern dreamwork and shamanic techniques for journeying and healing – all over the map. He is the host of the "Way of the Dreamer" radio show at www.healthylife.net and leads a very lively online dream school at www.spirituality-health.com. His current schedule (and many other goodies) are up at his website, http://www.mossdreams.com. His School of Active Dreaming offers workshops and trainings at many levels, including a three-year training for teachers of Active Dreaming.

Robert's Lightning Dreamwork process is now being widely taught and practiced. This is a method for dream sharing that makes it possible to open a safe space to share a dream, receive helpful and non-intrusive feedback, and develop an action plan to honor the dream – all in 8 minutes or less (which means we can do it just about anywhere, anytime). He introduced this process at ASD in Washington DC in 2000 and there is an article about it at his website. He is working on new books, both fiction and nonfiction, exploring the limitless adventure of dreaming.

My notes on the IASD

Robert tells this story about ASD:

My first ASD conference was in 1993 in Santa Fe. I went on a whim, knowing no one. And left with fifty people I regard as friends to this day.

I became an active member of ASD for two reasons. One was because this is a group of people of various backgrounds and approaches for whom the most important thing they say about themselves is, "I am a dreamer."

I also became an active member because I was on the wrong bus. I missed the bus from Santa Fe to Albuquerque airport. I was on a bus with Stan Krippner for ninety minutes, at the end of which he invited me to be an Invited Presenter at the ASD Conference in Holland the next year.
