About Willem Fermont Ph.D.

Although I am involved with art for over 20 years link, my career could easily be considered as a dream. Once, I started a study in chemistry, shifted to paleontology, worked as coal geologist, did research in oil and gas, managed a laboratory for oil and gas research, switched once more and became head of the curators of the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden, the Netherlands. Besides, art became more and more a substantial part of my life. After a 30 years career, studying time related questions in Geology, Paleontology, Culture and Art, I was left with the open question if time really does exist. Through art, especially, my interest focussed upon exploring the subconsciousness. This way I expect to understand more of the the time paradigm, and the creativity question. I approach the feature of dreaming scientifically, as well as from an artistic point of view.

My notes on the IASD

Searching on the web for organizations involved with the study of the subconscious processes, I came across the IASD in 2008. I became member in 2008, and visited the annual conferences since 2009. In 2011 I got the opportunity to prepare and host the 2011 annual conference in Rolduc, The Netherlands, together with an enthousoiastic team. I became IASD board member in 2011, and was re-elected for a second term in 2014. In 2015 I participate in a group of IASD- and Dutch volunteers to organize the IASD 2016 annual conference, again in Rolduc, The Netherlands, especially the art exhibition.
