Psychic Dreams

Do you know anyone who says they had a dream that actually came true? A survey done by David Ryback and Letitia Sweitzer found that more than 3 in 10 people claim to have had that experience!

Many scientists are skeptical about psychic dreams. They say that such dreams are probably just the result of chance coincidence. For example, let's say you dreamed one night about an auto accident. And the very next day, your best friend had a car crash. You would probably be pretty spooked! The skeptical scientists would point out that many people dream of car accidents every day. And that there are many car accidents every day, too. So there are bound to be some times when the dreams and the crashes do occur close together, just by mere chance.

Of course, other people disagree with the skeptics. Some stories of "psychic dreams" are very convincing, with so many similar details that it would be hard to attribute them to chance alone. Some people, like ASD member Rita Dwyer, believe that their lives were actually saved by psychic "warning" dreams.

Research hasn't given us a definitive answer yet. Some studies seem to suggest that dreams can be psychic. Other research seems to deny it. What do you think?
