TO: IASD Members DATE: 18 April 2008 FROM: Nominations Committee; Olaf Gerlach-Hansen, President Elect and Nominations Chair SUBJECT: Ballot for Election of New IASD Directors and Notice of 2008 Annual Meeting 1. ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING Our annual membership meeting will be held on Thursday, July 10, at IASD's 25th Annual Conference at The Hotel Auberge Universel in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Among other business, the results of the election to fill five vacancies on the Board of Directors will be announced. This year we will be asking the membership to repeal the current Bylaws since some of its provisions are not in compliance with California state law for nonprofit public benefit corporations. IASD is a non-profit public benefit corporation incorporated in California. The membership will be asked to adopt new Bylaws that are compliant with the State of California law as determined by our attorney and endorsed by the Board, the Executive committee and the Bylaws committee. 2. NOMINATIONS PROCEDURES, RESULTS AND BALLOT At last year's annual membership meeting, and in our publications throughout the year, we requested that you nominate possible candidates to serve as directors. Of those nominated and willing to serve, the Nominations Committee screened and selected and the Board approved the final slate, according to our nominations procedures. The names of these candidates are listed on the ballot for your final selection and vote. Brief biographical information also follows, to provide information on which to base your decision. We always strive to have as directors: a) those who have demonstrated their support of IASD and/or who have an expressed plan to contribute as an IASD Board member; b) those that permit us to maintain a respectable complement of researchers, academics and professionals who work in dream-related professions while also providing a healthy mix of persons with other dream work interests; c) those who reflect a balance in terms of our members' interests; and d) those who will help us maintain gender and cultural diversity and a good geographical mix to represent our global organization. Please read the candidate information attached and keep these factors in mind as you cast your vote. We need board members who will advance IASD. This year you will select and vote for 5 out of the 7 nominees on the slate. Those 5 with the most votes will be elected to the Board of Directors. All will serve three-year terms. The results of the election will be announced at the membership meeting. NEW this year: Due to the changes proposed in the IASD bylaws, in order to vote online at http://asdreams.org/vote members must have on file at the IASD Office the Electronic Voting Consent Form recently sent by IASD. If you did not receive this form, or if you would simply prefer to use a paper vote, you may send the ballot printed in DreamTime by postal mail to the address given on the ballot. In either case, voting for IASD Board candidates will begin in April 18, 2008 and end on June 22, 2008. All votes, whether electronic or paper, must be recorded by the end of the day on Sunday, June 22, 2008. Thank you for your vote! -- Olaf Gerlach-Hansen, President-Elect and Chair, Nominations Committee |
